Fortiora Financial · Toronto

Your money, calmly handled.

Accounting, tax, and advisory for businesses and families across the GTA, Canada, and the U.S.

  • Personal and corporate tax
  • Bookkeeping and payroll
  • Canada and U.S. filing

CRA letters. IRS forms. Deadlines that never line up.

And an accountant you only hear from at tax time.

Sound familiar?

  • A CRA letter you don’t understand
  • Surprise bills after the work is done
  • Two countries’ rules and two sets of deadlines
  • Silence all year, then a rush in April

We clear the view early.

Books kept current, both tax systems mapped, and a plan for the whole year.

How we work

  • Books updated every month, not every April
  • Every CRA and IRS deadline mapped in advance
  • A fixed fee, agreed before we start
  • Answers in plain words, all year

Stronger finances. Fewer surprises.

One firm for your books, your taxes, and both sides of the border.

Who we help

Four kinds of clients. One calm way of working.

  • 01

    Small businesses

Bookkeeping, payroll, HST, and corporate tax, kept current every month. You see where you stand before you decide, not after.

  • 02

    Individuals and families

Personal returns, RRSP and TFSA planning, and help when the CRA sends a letter. Plain answers, no jargon.

  • 03

    Startups and tech companies

Clean books investors can trust, SR&ED claims, and CFO-level advice while you grow.

  • 04

    Freelancers and creators

Instalments worked out for you, expenses sorted, returns filed on time. Your income can be uneven. Your taxes shouldn’t feel that way.

Canada and the U.S.

Two tax systems. One firm that speaks both.

Live in Canada with U.S. ties, or sell across the border? Most accountants handle one side. We work with the CRA and the IRS together, so nothing falls between them.

Canada

  1. Feb 28T4 and T5 slips
  2. Early MarRRSP contribution deadline
  3. Apr 30Personal returns and balance owing
  4. Jun 15Self-employed returns

U.S.

  1. Jan 15Q4 estimated tax
  2. Apr 15Form 1040 and FBAR
  3. Jun 15U.S. citizens living abroad
  4. Oct 15Extended returns

That’s your year, mapped. We track every date for you.

Usual dates. Some shift when they fall on a weekend.

How it works

Three steps to a calmer year.

  1. A quiet table by a window, set with two coffee cups, looking out over misty Lake Ontario and the Toronto skyline
    STEP 1

    A free first conversation.

Thirty minutes by phone or video. Tell us where things stand. We’ll tell you plainly what you need, and what you don’t.

  2. A long wooden pier reaching out over calm water as morning fog lifts
    STEP 2

We tidy up and map your year.

We bring your books up to date, sort out anything the CRA or IRS has flagged, and set out every deadline ahead.

  3. A white lighthouse on a calm shoreline in soft morning mist
    STEP 3

We stay in touch all year.

Regular check-ins, quick replies, and a heads-up before anything is due. You’ll hear from us well before April.

Our promise

No surprise bills. No silence until April.

  • Fees agreed before we start.

You’ll know the price upfront, in writing. If the work changes, we talk first.

  • Real answers, quickly.

Email or call. You’ll hear back from your accountant, in plain words.

  • Advice while you can still use it.

We look ahead at your year and tell you what to do now, not what you should have done.

  • CRA and IRS letters handled.

Send us the letter. We’ll explain what it means and deal with it for you.

Questions

What people ask us first.

Book a free consultation
Can’t I just do my own taxes?

For a simple return, maybe. Once you have a business, investments, rental income, or ties to the U.S., the rules stack up fast, and mistakes cost more than our fee. If you don’t need us, we’ll say so in the first call.

How much does it cost?

It depends on what you need, so we quote a fixed fee after the first conversation. You’ll know the number before any work begins.

Is switching accountants a hassle?

Less than you’d think. With your permission, we request your past returns and files and handle the handover ourselves.

I’m a U.S. citizen living in Canada, or the reverse. Can you file both returns?

Yes. We prepare both and use the Canada-U.S. tax treaty and foreign tax credits so the same income isn’t taxed twice.

I got a letter from the CRA. What should I do?

Don’t ignore it. Some have short deadlines, and the CRA treats its mail as received even if you never saw it. Send it to us and we’ll explain it and reply for you.

Do you only work with clients in Toronto?

No. We’re based in Toronto and work with clients across the GTA, Simcoe County, and anywhere in Canada and the U.S.
